Why HomecareNG?

Access to quality health care, which has always been dismal in the years past, has continued to fall below expectation. Today, few Nigerians trust the health care system to save their lives. Many do not even bother to access medical care and those who choose to do so, do it at a time when it might be too late to make a difference, often leading to sudden and untimely deaths. World Health Organization (WHO) ranked sub-Saharan African as having the worst health indicators in the world. And Nigeria has some of the worst health indicators in Africa. For instance, Nigerian life expectancy at birth for both male and female is 54 years in the 2012 WHO statistics. Life expectancy for most of the countries in North Africa is around 70 years, while it is above 70 in the UK and the US.

For many African countries, geriatric care is still either non-existent, unorganized or relegated to relatives and neighbors. The sad fact is that few relatives can afford to care for the elderly in our societies. This leaves many of our elderly parents and relatives without care and dying of preventable diseases, such as diabetes, malnutrition and cardiovascular diseases. This current state of affairs is untenable. To accept the current state of health care in our society is to suggest that we cannot do better. It is time to step up and work to alleviate the suffering of our elderly parents and relatives. Integrity HomeCareNG is posed to bring about the desired changes in the care of the elderly. We believe that our parents who have given everything to nurture and care for us in our youth deserve better. This is now our time to care for them.
